Friends of the Commonwealth Club

In 1962, The Commonwealth Club of Michigan was founded by a group of ex-pats from the UK. As of 2026, it is the oldest operating UK-based social club in the United States.

However, due to gross negligence, lack of transparency, misinformation, misdirection, and outright lies, the current board, along with their would-be dictator President Lori Monley, has all but destroyed our 64-year-old institution. Now the club is in real danger of no longer existing due an allegedly rigged vote to sell the clubhouse and dubious plans for its relocation.

This site will serve to document the abuses and violations of the club’s bylaws by the current president and her board over the last few years. The membership should be made aware of what is happening to our beloved club and, since the current president and her board are not being transparent or engaging the membership on decisions which affect the club’s operation and existence, provide documentation outlining what is going on behind the scenes. The information on this site is gathered from various sources, and we will do our best to ensure complete, honest, and open transparency with regard to this information.
